High atop Mount Carix, the highest peak amongst the Cetrin Mountains, a chill wind blew by. It was far colder than the winds that normally blew across the mighty peaks of the mountains. It sent a chill down the spine of Artemis Grey. Artemis was only twenty-five years old, and he wanted to be the first to climb to the peak of Mount Carix, without magical aid. It had been a dangerous mission, as the mountain was riddled with not only the dangers associated with climbing, but also many monstrous fiends. The cold air seeped right to the bone, and Artemis nearly froze in his place. Still, he endeavoured to climb onward.
Higher and higher Artemis went, but the chilled air grew colder and colder. He could no longer withstand the frosty blasts of air, and so he took shelter in a nearby cavern.
The carvern was dark, and cold, but not as cold as the winds that blew just outside. He lit a lantern and ventured in further. The walls were strange, unlike any cavern wall he had seen before. There looked to be deep claw-marks all along its walls. He looked closer and wondered if they were ancient carvings. Perhaps people had once resided within the Cetrin Mountains, and had travelled as high as Mount Carix. It was possible, for ages ago the mountain peaks were warm, lush, beautiful places, or so it had been said.
Artemis continued in further still. He suddenly felt a fresh gust of air, but this was not nearly as cold. It was warm, and had a foul odour to it. Next, all he knew was pain as he let out a wrenching scream, and was silenced.
~~~~~~
"E-excuse me? Excuse me? I-is anyone listening?" Elianna Grey, a sweet young lady, stood in the midst of Barra del Blazer. It was filled with merriment and laughter, which easily overpowered her soft, frightened voice. "H-hello? Could someone help me? Y-you see, my older brother left four months ago to . . . to . . . Hello?"
Elianna drew in a deep breath. "Excuse me!" she exclaimed. Unfortunately, not being used to sudden shouts, her cry was only audible enough for the few tables closest to her to hear, and after the strenous act of yelling, she immediately fell backwards onto a chair. "Ow . . ."
The excuse me didn't get his attention for it was about as loud as some one just trying to be hear after bumping into some one. Altho the the tone was all wrong.
What did get his attention was a girl falling into the seat next to him. "Good evening." He greeted her. "You look upset... no ruffian has touched you in an inappropriate manner has he?" He folded his paper gave her his most comforting look.
"Oh! Oh no, nothing like that. It's just that, well, my older brother, he-he went to the Cetrin Mountains four months ago, to climb to the top of Mount Carix. I-I knew he'd be gone for a long time, b-but, he's still not back, and I'm very scared. He should have come back weeks ago, but there's been no sign of him. The Royal Guard thinks he's dead, but, but I can't believe that. I-I need help . . ."
"Maybe its just taking him a long time? Bad weather slowing him down?" How could they tell this little flower such horrible things like her brother was dead. If she'd lived in the place she was from the king himself would have offered to look for this brother. He' be talked out of it by the others of course and their bravest men and women would be chosen to head off and give him a good looking for. Ah he wished the the place still existed. Life had been good then. "Well madam, perhaps we can find us some brave souls to help us find your dear brother."
"Yes, yes, that's just what I was trying to do, but . . . well, I can't really get anyone's attention. I'm sure you didn't notice. Would you be able to help? I-I can't offer you much, but I'd eternally grateful to you if you could help me in any way. I just want my brother back."
Jack gave a nod. "Right here we go." Jack stood up and cleared his throat. He then lifted his cane and rapped it loudly on the table. "ATTENTION! All ye of braves souls and emptying pockets! Sharped your swords and pack your gear! A quest has been asked of us! You here thinks he's brave enough to join me on a trek to the mountains called Cetrin and bring home safely the brother of this fair maiden!"
~~Elianna~~
Elianna blushed. Fair young maiden? she thought. He's such a sweetheart.
Still, deeper down, her worry for Artemis was still great. She hoped that this young man would be able to help her, and that others would answer the call. That's when she realized she didn't even know this man's name, nor did he know hers. She smiled admirably up at the stranger, for truly his was a noble spirit.
~~Chazz~~
"huh?' Chazz uddered as he looked up from his guitar in attention to the man yelling out the call of a quest. But the problem for him self was that he was shoddy when climeing mountans, and he had his band to worry about seens if he got killed or injured, the band would be in truble.
~~Joesith~~ "I will." Joesith said as he got off of his seat and put his book away.
"I'll help I'll help!" A kid about ten climbed up on one of the tables since he was so short and waved his little hands.
Trayke was rubbing a riza idly across the table he sat at. It had honestly been rather dull since the wars had ended and his request to leave the Athonian army had been finalized. Plus, he was only living on the scraps of money he still had from his service, and from whatever he was able to have sold from the bodies of whatever monsters he had found.
When the call went out for what seemed like kind of a mission, Trayke found himself inevitably torn between his present life of comfort and the knowledge that he'd have to get the money to eat sometime soon.
He sighed, and picked up his sheathed sword off of the table, walking over to the group of people gathering for the job.
"I'll go," he said, holding up his sword as if they required proof that he was capable of the journey.
~~~Elianna~~~
Elianna grinned happily. "Oh thank you, thank you all so much. I'm so very grateful, and I'm grateful on behalf of my brother." She paused for a moment, and looked over at the ten-year-old boy. She looked up at the kind man who had let out the call for her. "I don't think we should let him come with us," she said softly, gesturing. "I wouldn't want anyone so young to get hurt."

"With us? You plan on coming as well madam?" He was thinking of some kind of safe mission to keep the kid here, like guarding the lady while they were gone, but if she was coming too... he' hvae to think of something else. What was a ten year old doing unatteneded in a bar anyway??

"I have to come. I have to make sure I find my brother. I've been worrying for so long, and I feel that if I have to sit here and worry any longer than I have, I'll break. Surely, you understand why I have to come. I realize I haven't much skill in the way of strength, but I simply must come . . . for Artemis . . ."

Jack nodded. "I understand ma'am. I won't stop you." He then hailed the boy over for a talk.
